As part of our mission, Victim Service Center (VSC) engages the community in strategies that promote the prevention and awareness of crime and sexual assault. VSC reaches out to thousands of people annually through awareness and prevention presentations and tabling events. We work closely with law enforcement agencies, education institutions, health providers, libraries, businesses, government agencies, and non-profit organizations throughout Central Florida.
Outreach: Outreach activities are designed to provide information and resources to help victims of crime and sexual violence. The VSC reaches out to community partners through small group presentations, tabling events, our billboard campaign, a monthly newsletter, and collaboration with other community organizations. The VSC also provides information sessions to schools, businesses, civic groups, and other organizations.
Prevention: The Victim Service Center’s prevention program focuses on both youth (K-College) and at-risk populations, such as LGBTQ, Spanish-speaking, and the elderly. The prevention program is designed to promote attitudes, behaviors, and social conditions that will reduce and eliminate factors that cause or contribute to violence and crime. To achieve its goal, the VSC offers the following presentation topics:
- Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention
- Trauma Informed Care
- Healthy Relationships
- “Be The Hero” (Active Bystander Intervention)
