Since June 12th

When we received the call early Sunday morning, June 12th, our team was the first crisis counseling and victim services provider to respond. Since then, we have been actively involved in the immediate crisis response from the tragic event. On Sunday, our Victim Advocates first responded to ORMC and then later to the Hampton Inn where families of the wounded and deceased were told to go for information. Our crisis counselors worked with local law enforcement along with the FBI and other partner agencies to provide immediate crisis intervention while the victims’ families learned the fate of their loved ones.

On Monday and Tuesday, the City of Orlando Family Assistance Program was set up. We moved locations and began operating out of the Beardall Senior Center from 7am until 11pm. Our team provided ongoing support to the victims’ families while they were notified of the fate of their loved ones and informed of next steps to take. Our team worked in collaboration with other agencies to best meet the immediate needs of the families during this very challenging and heartbreaking time. In addition to providing emotional support and crisis counseling, our team has been working with families to arrange transportation, lodging, and other needs in an effort to best support each family.

On Wednesday morning,  we moved to the Camping World Stadium (formerly known as Orlando Citrus Bowl) where we have been onsite each day, providing support to the victims, victims’ families, loved ones, friends, and those impacted by the shooting. One June 22nd, the City of Orlando Family Assistance Center at Camping World Stadium closed down and a new location was announced.

On June 23rd, Orange County and the City of Orlando opened the new location called the Orlando United Assistance Center. The Center will be the place for those impacted to go for long-term support.
